The length of time that a cookie remains on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a “persistent” or “session” cookie. Session cookies last until you stop browsing and persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and will expire between 30 minutes and two years from the date they are downloaded to your device.

You can control and manage cookies in various ways. Please keep in mind that removing or blocking cookies can negatively impact your user experience and parts of our website may no longer be fully accessible.

Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can choose whether or not to accept cookies through your browser controls, often found in your browser’s “Tools” or “Preferences” menu. For more information on how to modify your browser settings or how to block, manage or filter cookies can be found in your browser’s help file or through such sites as: www.allaboutcookies.org.

Additionally, please note that blocking cookies may not completely prevent how we share information with third parties such as our advertising partners. To exercise your rights or opt-out of certain uses of your information by these parties, please follow the instructions in the “Behavioural Advertising” section above.

Do Not Track

Please note that because there is no consistent industry understanding of how to respond to “Do Not Track” signals, we do not alter our data collection and usage practices when we detect such a signal from your browser.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.

Complaints

As noted above, if you would like to make a complaint, please contact us by e-mail or by mail using the details provided under “Contact” above.

If you are not satisfied with our response to your complaint, you have the right to lodge your complaint with the relevant data protection authority. You can contact your local data protection authority, or our supervisory authority here: [Add contact information or website for the data protection authority in your jurisdiction. Marketplace order data

When you place an order with us through a third-party online marketplace such as Amazon.co.za, Takealot, Leroy Merlin, or Makro, we receive the buyer information necessary to fulfil the order: name, delivery address, contact number, order item(s), and order reference. This data is provided to us by the marketplace through its official Selling Partner API or seller portal. We use this data only to pick, pack, book courier, and deliver the ordered goods, and to keep tax and accounting records as required by South African law.

How we protect your information

Order data is stored on encrypted servers operated by Hetzner in Germany, accessible only by authorised Securadeal staff via authenticated login. Data in transit is protected using TLS 1.2 or higher. Access is limited to named employees on a need-to-know basis, and is logged for security review.

Who we share your information with

In addition to the payment and platform providers listed above, we share your delivery details with the courier company appointed to deliver your order (for example Fastway, The Courier Guy, or Bobgo) solely for the purpose of parcel delivery. Where required by law, we share transaction records with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) for tax reporting purposes.

Retention

Personal Information relating to marketplace orders is retained for a period of five (5) years from the date of the order, in accordance with South African tax record-keeping requirements under the Value-Added Tax Act and the Tax Administration Act. After this period, personal information is deleted from our active systems.

Data breach notification

In the event that Securadeal becomes aware of a security incident that has, or is reasonably suspected to have, compromised the confidentiality of your Personal Information, we will notify you and the South African Information Regulator within 72 hours of becoming aware of the incident, in accordance with section 22 of POPIA.

South African data protection rights (POPIA)

If you are a resident of South Africa, you have the following rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA): (i) to be notified that your Personal Information is being collected and, where applicable, that it has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person; (ii) to establish whether we hold Personal Information about you and to request access to it; (iii) to request correction, destruction, or deletion of your Personal Information; (iv) to object, on reasonable grounds, to the processing of your Personal Information; (v) to submit a complaint to the Information Regulator of South Africa (https://inforegulator.org.za).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact hello@securadeal.co.za.

Information Officer

The Information Officer for Securadeal (Pty) Ltd for POPIA purposes is Grant Price, contactable at hello@securadeal.co.za.
